DETAILED review and comparison to Android Wear … plus a tip AS OF FEBRUARY, 2016, I AM RAISING MY REVIEW TO 5 STARS (from 4). I USE THIS EVERYDAY, IT LOOKS LIKE A WATCH AND IT’S GOTTEN EVEN BETTER WITH THE LATEST SOFTWARE UPDATE. I ALSO EXCHANGED THE SPORT AND GOT THE CLASSIC. I’M GLAD I DID. THE CLASSIC IS GREAT LOOKING AND THE RING IS EVEN EASIER TO GRASP.

Finally a Smartwatch that looks like a regular watch and works really well. Purchased this and the LG Urbane to compare. The LG Urbane is BIG. It looked comical on my regular sized wrist. The Gear S2 Classic looks like a watch, not a smart watch. This is the first smart watch I saw that didn’t look comical on a wrist due to size. I was worried because this watch does not use Android Wear, (Tizen is the system in use) but honestly when comparing this interface to the generic Android Wear interface, I preferred the Gear S2’s rotary bezel and touch screen. It feels more natural than swiping. Here’s my impressions after 2 days. Moto 360 was out due to the flat tire. Couldn’t get past that. Replaced the band immediately because I wanted a metal band.

Very good smartwatch, but I returned it. FINAL UPDATE: I ended up returning the watch because I couldn’t live without Google Maps. It was unfortunate, but Here Maps was driving me crazy, and S-Voice was ending up being a bigger pain than I had realized. I still think this is a VERY good product (hence I still keep it at 4 stars), but in the end for my particular uses I had to return it. I did so reluctantly. So, even though I think Android Wear has a much worse UX I ended up with a LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition (with LTE so it can make phone calls). I’ll review that product later.
